Chillin enlists Perus – Alvaro Ernesto for its 19th release. The original mix of Salamandra is for all those late-night chameleons!! It sends chills as it chugs into a sacrificial, tribal offering of deep, dark, succulent house beats. After playing a little hide-n-seek, Chillin welcomes back the inconspicuous duo of Hot Commodity (Rob Slac & Diem), as well as the Irish Boy Wonder, Gavin Boyce, for remix assignments. There’s no hiding it, seek and ye shall find that Gavin’s mix is one of those tracks that makes you fall in love with music over and over again and that the market is sure to heat up with Hot Commodity’s upfront delivery of quirky, electro, retro goodness. Be careful as it has been known that Salamandra can cause strong muscle convulsions and high-blood pressure combined with hyperventilation. Please note that this behavior is perfectly normal; just keep dancing.” ~ Traxsource
his boy elroy = splendid aural perceptions
his boy elroy is the alter-ego of tim holt. he honed his talent writing themes for tv/film, which has filtered into remixes, wholly original tracks and programming. he has done work for charlie peacock, fort minor, rebecca st. james, krystal meyers, blake jarrell, cpm, afk & dustin h, boom jinx, lisa debendictis, lt from trifonic, elese and more.
Replika a.k.a. Michael got in touch with electronic music in the early days. In his young years his father listened to a lot of Jazz / Motown stuff and even electronic music. Inspired by all these influences and the new so called House and Techno music, Michael soon began to collect records and to spin these tunes out at the local clubs.
The scene in Switzerland grew fast in the early 90’s. A bit bored by the sounds that were released, Michael soon bought his own equipment and tried to get those deep and catchy beats done by himself.
Replika is not restricted to a certain style. Uplifiting tunes with warm, deep athmospheres he likes the most. So stay tuned this is real 21th century house music.
Jon Milsom’s “Moving On” is, perhaps, Chillin’s most ‘chill’ offering. The Original and Extended mixes are splendid specimens of organic house that we just don’t hear much of these days, unfortunately. France’s, Kirby, delivers a more uptempo version, yet still keeps it deep and sensual. Lucas Keizer rerubs the joint with some jack ‘n funk. Don’t move on without adding this release to your deeper desires. Bagpak Music- http://www.bagpak.net/product_info.php?cPath=413&products_id=13231&osCsid=2ed60940b4a390a4c5e0a8546dd0ae20

Diem & Hot Commodity (Watts re-view)
DIEM & HOT COMMODITY – New York to Down South w/ Da Sunlounge, Sound Navigators (6 98)
New EP of goodies from the Chillin Music imprint Diem are up first with “New York To Down South”, blending a thick, wandering bassline with shuffling beats, warm chords, gentle guitar play, and stabbing vocal snippets for some grooving late night house Da Sunlounge are up next, remixing the track into more of a poppin , bumping groove whilst still keeping that late night appeal On the reverse, Hot Commodity s “So Funk n Good” is a bumping helping of low-slung house, with a funky bassline underpinning jazzy keys, gentle chords, soulful harmonies, and shuffling techy beats Sound Navigators round things off with a chunky primetime rework, with driving percussion and beats, filtered swelling synths, and a retooled version of the bass TRACKS Diem – New York To Down South/ Diem – New York To Down South (Da Sunlounge Sunroof s Jammed Rework)/ Hot Commodity – So Funk n Jazz (Original)/ Hot Commodity – So Funk n Jazz (Sound Navigators Weeble Woble Rework)
Nobody’s Leaving (Primal Records)
CHAD NEIRO - NOBODYS LEAVING – REMIXES BY OLIVIER DESMET & SPETTRO, ROB SLAC - CHILLIN
More sweaty swampy Florida funk on this banging new one from the cool Chillin’ imprint. Primo cuts galore on this bumping underground groover, with Chad Neiro from Connected delivering the main mix of “Nobody’s Leaving”, an extended jazz-flavored cut-up vocal track that’s very high on the Swirl Peeps / Heather / ECB scale. On the flip Desmet & Spettro (aka the Wobbly Wankers) take this track deep into hypnotic tracky territory with some ace key stabs and piano twinkles. Label head Rob Slac works the vocal nicely with some warbly bass in his twisted stripped-down take. Fine piece of work from house music names old and new on this release!
Midnight Indian review
Tight four tracker from Orlando’s up-and-coming Chillin’ imprint. Perfect gear for the no-nonsense funky tech DJs, “Midnight Indian” is right up their with the west coast grooves of Detour, Nightshift and Doubledown, with four mixes all providing maximum dancefloor satisfaction. GRANT DELL’s mix isright in line with some of his best: thick, jacked-up dancefloor funk withplenty of dubbed out touches and flairs. Label heads Rob Slac and John Stuart each contribute a mix, withboth guys favoring a more stripped-down minimal cut-up style(a la Jacob London.) Original mix features some coolguitar washes over a tight clicky groove.
